The same plant [Right, below] was shown
in 2005 (click to see).
It survived! Another plant was flowering nearby [see photo L, below], and others
were visible within a few hundred metres, alog the road.
This species is also found in the forests nearby; isolated plants grow in small numbers, in drier places on slopes where there is also a little extra light seeping through the leaf canopy.
Last year's plant had three flowering stems this year - perhaps in 2005 when
I photographed it*, some had already been picked - or perhaps it is thriving
under the regime of early mowing without being allowed to seed?
